the introduction
About the Redesign
problem
Luminosity’s homepage consisted of basic navigation and a Book Now button, offering no information about the business or its services before visitors entered the booking experience.
Solution
Expanded Luminosity's website beyond a booking-focused homepage by introducing the business and highlighting its services. This brings key information directly to the homepage, giving visitors more context about the business and its offerings before booking an appointment.
Note: This redesign was not tested with live users, so the design decisions are based on an audit of the existing site, competitive analysis, and established UX/UI principles.

the research
Identifying the Market Gap
I analyzed three tanning websites to understand how they structured their homepages and presented information.
key observation
The competitor homepages introduced their businesses and showcased services upfront, while Luminosity's homepage offered only a “Book Now” button, providing little context before visitors entered the booking experience.
secondary observation
Pricing was another point of comparison, with some competitors requiring visitors to navigate beyond the homepage to find service costs.
Takeaway
The comparison informed two opportunities for Luminosity: introduce the business and its services on the homepage, and make service pricing easier to discover.

The Reasoning Behind the Design Decisions
The redesign explored new ways to present Luminosity’s business and services, alongside a consistent visual direction that carries throughout the website. Below are a few of the key design decisions that shaped the final experience, from the homepage hero and service cards to the service page layout.
Hero Section:
Connect CMS Image fields (Image 1–10)
The original homepage featured only a Book Now button, without communicating the services being offered. The redesign addresses this by:
Introduce the business
The redesigned hero introduces Luminosity as a spray tan and beauty studio, giving visitors an initial understanding of the business.
Providing a path to explore services
Building on the introduction, I added a “View Services” CTA for visitors who want to explore Luminosity's specific services in more detail. The existing “Book Appointment” CTA remains available for those who wish to proceed directly to scheduling.
Service Cards (UX opportunity):
Connect CMS Image fields (Image 1–10)
The analysis showed that some competitors required visitors to navigate beyond the homepage to find service pricing. In response, I added service cards featuring starting prices, bringing key service and pricing information together on the homepage.
Service Page:
Connect CMS Image fields (Image 1–10)
The original page presented all 17 services in one list.
I grouped the services into 3 categories: tanning, teeth whitening, and lashes. I added tabs so visitors can navigate directly to the category they're interested in, rather than scanning through unrelated services.

LEVERAGING AI
Using AI to Accelerate Design and Development
To accelerate the initial design process, I used Claude Design to generate a starting layout, providing Luminosity’s primary brand color and business details for context. I then refined the layout, visual hierarchy, and styling to better align with the brand and create a more cohesive user experience.
I transferred the mockup into Claude Code to continue developing and iterating on the website. I also used Claude Code skills to review design decisions, identify inconsistencies, and explore opportunities to improve the overall experience. AI served as a supporting tool throughout the process, while I guided the design direction and made the final decisions.
